Stage One Dance Center celebrates in our 16th year of business in 2008.  Growing from a one floor, one instructor business in 1992, to a lively center for the dance arts with two floors and 10 instructors specializing in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, adult specialty and pre-ballet/tap classes.  Our students range in ages from 2 to adult, and beginning through advanced level of training.  In addition to our yearly schedule of community performances we also are home to our non-profit enterprise North Bay Performing Arts.  Our company members travel throughout the Bay Area to perform their award winning routines, and delight audiences throughout the community with free performances and fundraising events.  Closer to home our youngest dancers perform in the annual Open House On First Street during the Christmas season, and all students participate in our year end Showcase of Dancers in June.  Performing for Arts in the Park and the 4th of July events is always a community favorite in Benicia’s City Park.   Benicia’s 3rd of July Torchlight Parade has also been a big hit with our ever energetic dancers.

Our Philosophy:

To build the individuals self-esteem through commitment, discipline, self-determination, and pride in accomplishment.  We hold our dancers to high expectations and encourage self-motivation toward achieving technical proficiency as well as excellence in personal goals.

That Is Why I Teach Dance

NOT because I expect you to major in Dance.

NOT because I expect you to Dance all your life.

NOT so you can relax or have fun.

BUT so you will be human,

so you will recognize beauty,

so you will be sensitive,

so you will be closer to an

Infinite beyond this world,

so you will have more love,

more compassion,

more gentleness,

more good…

in short, more life.

Of what value will it be to make a prosperous

living unless you know how to live?
