Positive reinforcement is an effective tool for the aspiring young dancer.  Therefore, we like to draw attention to our students who exhibit those positive qualities we look for in an outstanding dancer and performer.

The student chosen for dancer of the month will possess the following qualities.

  1. Complete attention and focus within the classroom.  The serious dancer will remain attentive during class and give 100% energy and effort into progressing in technique.  Excellence in self-discipline toward perfection of technical training is a must.  Talking out or adopting a less than serious attitude is not acceptable for a dancer of the month/year.
  2. Regular attendance.  Classes will not be missed due to failure to complete homework assignments in a timely manner.  We not only expect our dancers to be diligent with their technical training, but also maintain high academic skills.  Class attendance is mandatory to fully develop a technically proficient dancer.  A dancer will be excused from class for illness or injury.
  3. Stage presence.  A commanding stage presence is a must for any serious dancer as it is at this time where the public may observe the outcome of dedication and intense physical training.  Therefore we look for the dancer who is at ease on stage and is a delight to observe.  Knowledge of routine, technical proficiency, an energetic performance and facial expression all work together to make an exciting dancer.
  4. Positive attitude.  The student must posses a positive attitude toward a demanding work ethic, the instructor and other students.
